Requirements:

A PhD in the field of
Human Physiology (specify title of completed thesis)
·
At least three appropriate
research outputs over the last five years (SL)
·
Involvement in any form of community
participation
·

teaching statement demonstrating potential to teach

Recommendation
·
Papers read at international conferences
·
Relevant
industry/teaching experience
·
Proven research track
record
·
Publications in
accredited journals
·
Successful
supervision of masters and/or doctoral students
·
Teaching expertise at
honours level, in at least one or more fields of Human
Physiology
·
Teaching Physiology
in an integrated manner to undergraduate students
·
Proficiency in
computer skills (MS office package) and knowledge and use of
Statistical Programmes
·
Should
be a team player
Duties
·
Development, compilation & teaching of
relevant study material and courseware for undergraduate & postgraduate
courses for the distance teaching environment.
·
Planning and delivery of practical contact
& tutorial sessions to postgraduate students in selected decentralised
venues.
·
Assistance with postgraduate research.
·
Research and community outreach, including
involvement in professional & subject-related associations.
·
Various academic duties as required by the
specific department.
·
Involvement in work-integrated learning.
·
Contribution towards institutional committees
& activities according to requirements.
Assumption
of duty: As soon as possible.
Salary: Remuneration
is commensurate with the seniority of
the position

African equivalent of the qualification. These qualifications are evaluated by
SAQA. The

A Teaching statement (max 2 000
words) must indicate:
Involvement in or approach to Open Distance Learning.
Approach
to fostering a learner-centred approach.
Approach to teaching at either
undergraduate or postgraduate level.
Development
of study material as individual and in a team approach.
The
extent of using electronic learning platforms.
The pass success and throughput
rates in the courses and qualifications the candidate teaches and the candidate’s
plans to increase these rates (if applicable).
Peer and
student evaluation of teaching (if applicable).
